Working at Union School 

The mission of Union School is to continue to inspire a culture of life-long learning that encourages academic excellence, civic mindedness, and personal integrity. Our U.S. Accredited program in Haiti is intended to prepare our community of learners to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century.

Educational Staff

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Required to teach a combination of the following courses
  • Prepare course timelines and materials, such as long-range plans, homework assignments and handouts
  • Prepare lesson plans with clear objectives that follow Common Core State Standards
  • Conduct formal and informal assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports and post results to students and families on the school’s platform.
  • Work with other specialists and homeroom teachers to support the development of integrated lessons and units
  • Initiate and facilitate classroom discussions
  • Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning
  • Arrange class activities and accompany classes on field trips
  • Promote and maintain high standards of behavior, respect and safety within the classroom
  • Support students and families with open, ongoing communication
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and trainings as set throughout the year
  • Mandatory participation in all school-wide events

Minimum Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related teaching field
  • Teaching credential or certification
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience
  • Experience integrating technology in class lessons
  • A passion for and experience working with children
  • Motivated team player who will work to foster an open, positive learning environment
  • Willingness and ability to supervise after school activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; empathetic and accountable
  • Must speak English fluently
  • Criminal record check required


  • Experience working at an international school
  • Experience working with Common Core State Standards

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited University or College in Computer Science, Education, Business Technology, or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • At least 3 years in a technology leadership role, preferably in an educational institution
  • Ability to manage, maintain, and implement an electronic Local Area Network
  • Excellent knowledge of networking technologies including routers, switches, firewalls, Active Directory, servers, clients, desktops, laptops, tablets
  • Proven experience as IT coordinator or similar role
  • Solid knowledge of IT systems and applications
  • Understanding of TCP/IP protocols and LAN/WAN configuration
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

November 2017 Elementary PK-5 Teachers August 2018

  • BS or BEd degree in content area
  • 2 years minimum teaching experience
  • License/certification in home country
  • Working knowledge of Common Core Standards preferred

November 2017 School Librarian August 2018

  • BA or MA degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association (or from a MA level program in library and information studies accredited or recognized by the appropriate national body of another country
  • State Certification as a school librarian and have completed a teacher preparation program and/or educational degree
  • Review and withdraw stock, as appropriate, in order to maintain a current and appropriate collection
  • Train and supervise the students to use the Library appropriately
  • Knowledge/experience with Common Core Standards
